Students Attend the Inaugural Prom

Prom is an exciting time of year for any school student and it is even more exciting if your prom night is also a milestone in your local community. Clarksburg High opened for the first time in 2006 and took students from Damascus, Watkins Mill and Seneca Valley.

However, until this year there had been no senior class and therefore no prom was thrown for the students until now. The inaugural prom this year was held at the Lynfield Event Complex and the students enjoyed a Las Vegas themed night. Some of the students even organised a special pre-prom get together so they could compare outfits and wait for their dates to arrive and make their way to the prom together, also giving a chance for the prom parents to fuss and photograph.

The importance of the event was not lost on the students who are proud to have started a new tradition. The Clarksburg students have been aware for the last two years that they would be the first senior class and so have preparing for their prom for quite a while. And what would a prom be without limousine hire?

The Clarksburg students realised that the night was really happening and the excitement grew when the last of the students arrived at the pre-prom gathering and their limousines arrived to take them to the biggest night of their young lives.

The prom limousines were also a sign for the parents that their kids had grown up. One parent agreed that ‘It is the best time of their lives, but they won’t realize it until they are out of high school.’ Perhaps riding away in a limousine, no longer in need of ‘mum’s taxi’ is what clinches the reality for many parents.
